FDA seizes $71k in herbal tea products as campaign of censorship against nutritional supplements continues

(NewsTarget) The U.S. Food and Drug Administration, continuing its campaign of censorship against truthfully-described herbal supplements, seized $71,000 worth of Charantea herbal supplements last week in a raid involving U.S. Marshals. The company, Fulllife Natural Options, was accused by the FDA of marketing an “unapproved drug” due to the truthful marketing claims that accurately describe the blood sugar lowering effects of the product’s main ingredient: Bitter Melon fruits.

According to the Food and Drug Administration, there is no such thing as an herb, food or supplement that has any biological activity whatsoever on the human body (other than simply providing calories), and any person who dares to make such a claim is immediately considered to be in violation of the FDA’s authority. Any substance that has any therapeutic effect whatsoever on the human body is considered by the FDA to be a “drug” and must be approved as such — a lengthy process costing about $800 million and requiring the favor of an agency that practically works for Big Pharma.

Cinnamon can help control your blood sugar…

A Swedish research team has again confirmed previous studies from 2000 and 2004, showing the positive effect of

cinnamon in the treatment of type 2 diabetes.

This new study found a meaningful decrease in blood sugar in patients who consumed 6 grams of cinnamon with their rice pudding, versus those who ate their’s plain. They were also seeking to find whether cinnamon had any effect on satiety, but the results were negligible at best.

Cinnamon has previously been indicated as a potential insulin substitute for those with type 2 diabetes — researchers have found that cinnamon contains a bioactive component with “insulin-like” effects.

It has also been determined that this inexpensive spice increases glucose metabolism 20-fold.

Are you throwing away the best part of the apple?

Hi everyone,

I just returned from a vacation in Southern California.  Hope you all didn’t miss me too much :) .  Anyhow, I found that the produce there (we were living on nectarines and peaches) was so much better than it was here.  That’s why when I found this article this morning I thought it was somewhat appropriate. :)   You know what they say about an apple a day…

Traditionally, apple peels have been considered healthy because of their fiber content, as the peel contains about 75 percent of the dietary fiber in an apple.

But a recent study has shown that the peel also contains most of the beneficial phytochemicals responsible for apples’ anticarcinogenic effects.

Scientists processed more than 200 pounds of Red Delicious apples, and extracted phytochemicals from about 24 pounds of peel. They screened the compounds for anti-cancer effects in laboratory cultures of human liver, breast, and colon cancer cells, and identified a group of compounds with potent anti-cancer properties.

Specifically, 13 triterpenoids from the peels of Red Delicious apples were identified and confirmed to be highly effective against cancer. Exactly how and why these biochemicals seek and destroy cancer cells is still unknown.

Apple consumption has previously been linked to a reduced risk of lung cancer, heart disease, and stroke.
